        With the change of the Sulaimani Technical Education Board to Sulaimani Polytechnic University and the inauguration of the Technical College of Administration, in 2013, the media technique department was opened.

As the first step for the academic year of (2013-2014), the admission center admitted (30) students from the sixth high school graduates in both scientific and literary branches, in addition to seventy graduates of the media department of the Kurdistan Regional Government institutes in order to continue their studies from the second phase, with the aim to provide another opportunity to obtain a higher certificate.

Mission:

One mission of the media technique department is preparing professionals and competent cadres in the media field with the knowledge of creating all forms of written, audio, and visual journalism in traditional media outlets (press, station, television), as well as new media (websites, web TV, official social media sites. Another task of the media technique department is learning students the values, rules, and ethics of the media and teaching them how to communicate in a scientific and academic way while using new methods to create media material.

In addition to undergraduate study, since the academic year of (2019-2020), post-graduate study is opened. Two groups of master’s students applied to obtain M.A. degree in media with a total of twenty-three applicants. Until now, six graduates obtained M.A. in different fields of media.

Vision:

After graduation, a student in the technical department of Media will:

  1. Have the capacity to operate in the media field in both the public and private sectors in terms of both theory and practice.
  2. Manage and control all media channels, departments, and groups within organizations.
  3. Create all media works—reports, news coverage, advertisements, etc.—in an academic way.
  4. Apply science to photos, graphics, and editing.
