Medical Laboratory Technique’s department in Halabja Technical Institute SPU is located in Halabja city and offers 2 years studying for a technical diploma in medical laboratory techniques. The department is established in 2007 under the name of MLT and still continues in the same name. Its first graduated class was back in 2008-2009 in which 48 students graduated and awarded technical diploma in MLT.
Mission:
The main goals for this department are lay under the main objective of the medical technical institutes in which are preparing and applying the healthcare providers (hospitals, clinics and other medical centers) with skilled and professional cadres in such a way that fulfills the demands of the public and private sector.
Visions:
The vision of the medical laboratory techniques department:
- Provide excellent undergraduate academic technical education in the Medical Laboratory Sciences.
- Contribute to the health sciences body of knowledge through basic and clinical research, and Function as an expert resource within the University community regarding all issues related to medical laboratory sciences.
Objectives:
The graduates of this department are among the most hired medical professions in Kurdistan cities, in both the public healthcare centers and private clinics and hospitals.
The objective of a diploma in medical laboratory technique is to provide students with the knowledge and necessary skills to work as competent medical laboratory technicians. This program aims to equip students with a strong foundation in medical laboratory science, including laboratory testing techniques, interpretation of laboratory results, and proficiency in handling and analyzing different types of medical specimens. Students will also learn how to maintain laboratory equipment and manage laboratory information systems. Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical training, graduates of this program will be prepared to work in a variety of medical laboratory settings, including hospitals, clinics, and research laboratories. Ultimately, the goal of this diploma program is to produce graduates who can contribute to the healthcare industry by performing accurate and reliable laboratory tests that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.
