The Director of the Language Center of Sulaimani Polytechnic University was Designated by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to participate as one of the trainers to open a course on the basic principles, methods and types of English language testing and assessment.
Dr. Hogar Tofiq, Director of Language Center of Sulaimani Polytechnic University, said that on the recommendation of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research (58) teachers from Kurdistan universities participated in a training course to transfer experience and expertise, which was held at Cambridge University in the UK. In this context, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the supervision of the Office of Research and Development appointed a team of directors of language centers who participated in the Cambridge University course, which consisted of (Director of Language Center of Sulaimani Polytechnic, Charmo and Zakho), as trainers to implement a course on the basic principles, methods, and types of tests in the three provinces of Erbil, Sulaimani and Duhok. The aim of the course was to improve the scientific capacity and develop the skills of English language course teachers in language centers in terms of assessment and asking questions about the basic English language skills. The target of the course is to improve the assessment process and conduct examinations for courses in accordance with the European Framework for Determining Language Standards (CEFR) and the recommendations for the University of Cambridge Training Course. It is worth mentioning that the courses for teachers of language centers in Erbil province was held 24 th and 25 th of October, for the teachers of language centers in Duhok province on 1 st and 2 nd of November, and for the teachers of language centers in Sulaimani province was on 8 th and 9 th of November. At the end of the courses, certificates of participation were awarded to the participating teachers by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
