Workshop on Skills Integration Roadmap for Establishment and Internationalization of Universities in the Kurdistan Region

Under the supervision of the President and the Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, and with the participation of the Career Development Center and the International Relations Directorate, Sulaimani Polytechnic University hosted the second workshop on the “Skills Integration Roadmap for the Establishment and Internationalization of Universities in the Kurdistan Region.”

The workshop was held on 23–24 September 2025 at the Rotana Hotel in Sulaimani, with the participation of Sulaimani Polytechnic University, the University of Duhok, Erbil Polytechnic University, Duhok Polytechnic University, Garmian University, the University of Zakho, and Akre University for Applied Sciences.

Professor Dr. Wishyar Abdullah Aziz, President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University, attended the workshop along with the Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, the Directors of the International Relations Directorate, and the Directors of the Career Development Centers.

During the workshop, participants provided feedback and analyzed proposals for developing a roadmap to integrate employability skills and promote internationalization within universities in the Kurdistan Region. This roadmap will later form the basis for university policy in this area.

The RISE project (Reinforcing Integration of Skills for Employability and Internationalization in Kurdistan) is being implemented by UNIMED with financial support from the European Union and the participation of seven Kurdish universities and two European universities.
