The Seventh and Eighth Rounds of Capacity Building for Students and Graduates of Universities and Institutes in the field of ICT and Cybersecurity have Successfully Conducted
SPU Cisco Networking Academy/ Chwar-Chra Campus in Technical College of Engineering, in collaboration with Meridian International Center and Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. State Department, conducted a training course for the seventh and eighth time.
The program was conducted within the framework of the “IVLP Impact Awards” Program which is achieved by Asst. Prof. Dr. Awder Mohammed Ahmed, (as an IVLP Impact Awardees 2024) Head of SPU Cisco Networking Academy/ Chwar-Chra Campus,
Eighty students and graduates of universities and institutes of Suleimaniyah Governorate participated in the course. Participants came from the University of Sulaimani, American University of Iraq-Sulaimani, Tishk International University, Komar University, Cihan University, University College of Goizha, Sulaimani Polytechnic University, Kurdistan Technical Institute, and National Institute.
The course was delivered by a team of experts from universities in the Kurdistan Region, the United States of America, and Europe. The participants have been introduced to new programs and topics designed to help them protect against electronic attacks. They also learned essential skills that will be relevant in the future cybersecurity job market.
Demand for these courses remains high among students and graduates of universities and institutes. Each announcement of such courses typically attracts 300–350 applicants, highlighting the growing importance of cybersecurity in society and its potential to help young people secure employment opportunities.
Upon completing both theoretical and practical lessons, each participant received a certificate of attendance.
It is worth noting that approximately 300 students and graduates from universities and institutes in the Sulaymaniyah Governorate participated in this initiative, which consisted of eight individual workshops delivered between December 2024 and January 2025.
