Workshop on Strengthening Professional Development Services at Sulaimani and Duhok Polytechnic Universities

Career Development Center Staff Participate in an International Workshop

Several staff members of the Career Development Center (CDC) at Sulaimani Polytechnic University participated in an international workshop on organizing job fairs.

The workshop was conducted online on February 5–6, 2025, by Cowater International as part of the ISDEHARAK Project, which is sponsored by the European Union.

The workshop was held within the framework of strengthening professional development services at Sulaimani and Duhok Polytechnic Universities. It aimed to equip CDC staff with advanced skills to better support students transitioning into the workforce. The program focused on improving career guidance services, refining internship programs, and aligning university career services with labor market demands.

The workshop was delivered by international trainers Brian Staines and Roger Noujaim. Five staff members from the Career Development Center at Sulaimani Polytechnic University participated.

During the training, participants evaluated existing career development programs, graduate tracer studies, and preparations for job fairs, including the use of checklists and feedback analysis to identify gaps in career preparation. Discussions emphasized improving internship programs and strengthening industry collaboration to ensure graduates leave university with skills that meet real-world job requirements.

The training also highlighted the importance of employer engagement in key economic sectors, enabling CDC staff to tailor career guidance toward industries with strong employment potential.
