SPU holds E-Learning Professional Training Program (Delivered by IREX) Final Ceremony for Participating Faculties
On Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 12:00 pm Iraq time, Sulaimani Polytechnic University (SPU) held the E-Learning Professional Training Program final on-campus ceremony for its participatinguniversity faculties who successfully completed the programdelivered by IREX from April 30th, 2020 to July 5th, 2020.
The ceremony was held under the auspicious of the SPU President Assistant for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies Professor Dr. Soran Abu-Bakir Mohammed and in attendance of a number of the Deans of university colleges.
Initially, Professor Dr. Soran opened the cermony by welcoming the attendees and congratulated all of the participating facultieson their successful completion of the program, commendingtheir efforts to the impressive work they have accomplished at this difficult time due to Coronavirus Pandemic. He also stressed the need for accelerating efforts to organize similar e-learning professional training programs for the other university faculties prior to the commencement of the new academic year.
On his side, the program coordinator for SPU participating faculties, Assistant Professor Dr. Sarkawt Rostam shared the experience with the attendees and provided them with a brief about the program, shedding some light on the duration, core modules and assessment tools of the program. He went on to say that 1051 participating faculties from 79 universities across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region were enrolled in the course. Of these, eight faculties were from Sulaimani Polytechnic University, whose names are listed as follows:

2. Asst. Prof. Dr. Alaa Khalil Jumaa, College of Informatics, DB Technology
3. Asst. Prof. Dr. Noor Ghazi M. Jameel, Technical College of Informatics, Computer Networks
4. Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Muhi Aldeen Omar, Technical College of Applied Sciences, Food Industry & Quality Control
5. Dr. Hogar Mohammed Tawfeeq, SPU Presidency, International English Language Centre
6. Zanyar Ali Ahmed, Chamchamal Techncial Institute, Information Technology
7. Maha Sabah Saeed, Computer Science Institute, Network
8. Awezan Aso Omer, Technical institute of Sulaimani, IT Unit and Electronic Library
Bearing this in mind, the purpose of the E-learning Professional Training Program was to support Iraqi faculty in successfully integrating e-learning broadly across Iraqi campuses. The Program was supported by the U.S. Embassy, Baghdad under the U.S. Iraq Higher Education Partnerships Program and in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government’s(KRG) Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
