SPU Lecturer Becomes Co-director of Britain-led Project and Obtains Research Funding
Dr. Rozhin Kamal Mohammed Amin, Head of the Digital Cultural Heritage Research Group, at the Research Centre of Sulaimani Polytechnic University (SPU) and a lecturer at the Department of City Planning Engineering, the College of Technical Engineering received an invitation from Professor Eleanor Robson, the Director of the Nahrein Network Project from the University College London to direct the project jointly with him. The other co-director of the project is Dr. Jafaar Jazrifrom the Qadisiyah University.
The Nahrein Network is a multi-million pounds project whose base is located in UCL University, which is ranked the third across the UK and 15th in the world according to Shanghairanking. It is also a Britain-led funded project to develop research and function skills and is supported by Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) in Iraq and the neighboring countries. The project entered into force from October 2017 and is scheduled for 30th of March, 2021.
Speaking to the SPU website on this initiative, the Head of the Digital Cultural Heritage Research Group said “I express my gratitude to Professor Robson and the entire team members of the Nahrein Network for their confidence in my credentials to work with them and creation of this high-ranking academic opportunity for me, my university and other members of my team in order to conduct creative research project”. She also thanked Prof. Dr. Alan Farydoon Ali, the President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University for his support for carrying out creative and international projects and motivating the young academics to develop their credentials and skills. She went on to thank the supervisor of the SPU Research Centre, the Vice-President for Scientific Affairs & Postgraduate Studies, the Vice- President for administration and Accounting Affairs, the Dean of the Technical College of Administration, the directors, lecturers, SPU staff involved and those who helped run the project.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Rozhin has obtained a lot of research funding and grants estimated at half a million dollars to support a number of research projects, national and international academic events held with SPU partners. Moreover, she has a robust academic relationship with a number of professors and faculties of universities and agencies worldwide including Europe, Britain, Canada, America and New Zealand.
