Under the slogan Towards a Promising Technical Future

The Technical Education Council held its third session at the Northern Technical University in Mosul, bringing together academic leaders and technical education experts from across Iraq.

Professor Dr. Hoshyar Abdulla Aziz, President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University, led a distinguished delegation comprising Professor Dr. Ali Qader Othman, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Professor Dr. Diyari Ali Mohammed, Dean of the Institute of Computer Science. The session took place on Saturday, 12 April 2025, and served as a platform for dialogue on enhancing and expanding technical education across diverse institutions.

The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Haider Abd Zahid, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Federal Government and was attended by presidents of technical universities from central and southern Iraq, as well as the Kurdistan Region.

The session began with a welcome speech by Professor Dr. Alia Attar, President of Northern Technical University, who expressed her pleasure in hosting this significant event. She emphasized the importance of exchanging knowledge and experiences among institutions to strengthen technical education across the country.

Key topics discussed included:

1. Guidelines from the Chair of the Technical Education Council regarding the expansion of the technical education system and strategic approaches to establishing private higher education institutions.

2. Plans to establish new technical institutes specializing in artificial intelligence, aligning with global technological advancements.

3. Encouraging the development of technical expertise within non-governmental universities, to broaden the impact of technical education.

This session is part of a broader series of meetings focused on laying the foundations for a modern technical education system—one that aligns with labor market demands and the evolving landscape of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

As a significant outcome of the meeting, President Dr. Hoshyar Abdulla Aziz signed two memoranda of understanding with Middle Euphrates Technical University and Northern Technical University, reinforcing a shared commitment to academic collaboration and mutual progress.
