The President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University Participated in the Meeting of the Presidents of Iraqi Technical Universities in Basra

At the request of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Federal Iraqi Government, on January 4, 2025, Prof. Dr. Hoshyar Abdullah Aziz, President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University, participated in the seasonal meeting of the presidents of Iraqi technical universities, held at Southern Technical University in Basra.

The meeting addressed several important topics, including greater coordination between the universities of the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government. During the meeting, the President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University delivered a speech on behalf of the participating polytechnic universities in the Kurdistan Region, highlighting the role of these universities in continually striving to organize their education programs and align them with the labor market, ensuring that their graduates can become self-employed.

In his speech, the President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University provided a brief overview of the university’s achievements, emphasizing the progress made in various fields in a short period of time. Notably, the university was ranked 4th in the Kurdistan Region, 16th in Iraq, and 2nd among Iraqi technical universities in the Times Higher Education Arab University Ranking for the first time.

During his visit, the President also signed a memorandum of understanding with Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Atiq, President of Southern Technical University.
