Sulaimani Polytechnic University Participates in UNESCO Conference on the Role of Quality Assurance in Enhancing Vocational Education
On Monday, May 20, 2024, Dr Bakhtiar, Lecturer in the Technical College of Informatics and Head of the Quality Assurance Board for TVET 2 at Sulaimani Polytechnic University, as the university representative participated in a conference titled “The Role of Quality Assurance in Enhancing Vocational Education” held in Baghdad. The conference, organized by UNESCO as part of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Reform Program in Kurdistan and Iraq – Phase II (TVET2), and funded by the European Union, gathered delegates from various institutions from Iraq and KRG including Erbil Polytechnic University and Duhok Polytechnic University.
The TVET2 program, implemented by UNESCO, works intensively with the Ministry of Higher Education and The Ministry of Education in both Iraq and KRG to equip people with the knowledge and skills needed for the workforce, aiming to create sustainable jobs for young people.
The conference focused on presenting the results and impacts of implementing and integrating the quality assurance system in a pilot project involving five vocational schools under the Ministry of Education in both Iraq and KRG. It also explained the principles of quality assurance in vocational education and discussed the importance of fostering a quality assurance culture. Additionally, it explored the role of high-quality vocational education in economic and social development.
