A Panel Discussion was Held on “Violence against Women and its Social and Health Consequences”
Today 2022/11/30 on the occasion of the International Day for Combating Violence against Women, the Department of Nursing of Darbandikhan Technical Institute in coordination with the Directorate of Media and Activities of Sulaimani Polytechnic University organized a panel discussion Entitled (Violence against Women and its Social and Health Consequences) in the presence of a number of directors and representatives of government institutions in Darbandikhan district and many students, employees and teachers, hosted by
1- Assistant Prof Dr. Bakhtiar Kamal Talabani
2- Dr. Jamal Karim Shokur
3- Lieutenant Shahab Ahmad, Director of Family Violence and Women Office
4- Mr. Sabah Sharif
At the beginning of the panel, the Dean of Derbandikhan Technical Institute congratulated the organizers of the panel and said it is appropriate for all of us to take a position on all the discussions and events that we hear daily about violence against women and human rights violations in the Kurdistan Region. They hoped that everyone would take steps towards ending violence and leading a peaceful and problem-free life. Lieutenant Shahab Ahmad highlighted the forms of violence in Kurdistan and in terms of quantity and quality compared to neighboring countries and developed countries, as well as the causes of violence in Kurdistan. Then Asst. Prof. Dr. Bakhtiar Kamal Talabani highlighted the social and economic aspects of the problems and the ability and will of women to improve their lives and the obstacles of society in this regard to become leaders, talked about how gender inequality has affected the backwardness of society and the country.
Dr. Jamal Karim Shokur and m.Sabah Sharif highlighted the health aspects of women’s personalities after experiencing domestic or gender-based violence that makes women isolated and then causes them psychological and social problems. Finally, each of the panelists answered the questions of the audience.
