Call for Research Group Members (RGMs) at the SPU Research Center

The Research Center (RC) is looking for active and dedicated researchers from Sulaimani Polytechnic University (SPU) to join its newly established research groups. A Research Group Member (RGM) can be a faculty or staff with active research interest in one of the following research areas:

* Digital Cultural Heritage (DCH)
* The Future for Polling and Public Opinion (FPPO)
* Sustainable and Renewable Energy (SRE)
* Genocide and Women Studies (GWS)
* Environmental Studies (ES)
RGMs are qualified for an up to 50% reduction in their teaching quorum (so called Nisab), upon their department’s permission.
RC encourages interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research projects; Accordingly, researchers from different related backgrounds and fields are welcome to join these groups. RC groups are selective; Accordingly, we recruit the groups with applicants with high potentials for conducting good quality research and work ethic only, after an interview. Please note, only selected candidates will be interviewed.

While RC strives to provide equal opportunities for all SPU researchers with access to research capacity building trainings and resources, for the current first call for RC groups, a small number of researchers will be selected.

Key responsibilities of the members

A group member is expected to:

actively participate in developing and undertaking research project plans in the group,
actively get involved in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting qualitative and/or quantitative data,
collaborate and share knowledge within and with other groups and RC members while working on a research project,
commit to the research group’s plans, deadlines, and milestones,
attending the group’s meetings (unless prior permission is granted by the group head) and the required researching capacity building trainings, workshops, and activities,
lists and acknowledges the RC as his/her affiliation in any publications, or communications resulting from or relating to the group projects, and
writing and submitting bi-weekly or monthly progress reports to the group head.
Required skills and qualifications

* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Very good communication skills (including writing).
* Good IT skills.
* Good English language skills (especially in reading and writing). Demonstration of English language skills through TOEFL, IELTS, or other international English language tests would be advantageous.
* Demonstrated record of initiative, problem solving, and adaptability.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Reliable and self-Motivated
* Ability to work independently.
* Ability to work in and contribute to a team and develop good working relationship with the team and RC members and staff.
* Strong listening and collaboration skills.
* Flexible with working hours and location.

Please note, if you are willing to contribute to the RC but cannot find your research interest in any of the above research groups, we welcome submitting proposals and plans for opening new research groups and projects.
