An international workshop Entitled “Beyond the Point Clouds: Real-World Uses of 3D Data for Conservation and Accessibility of Cultural Heritage” took place.

On 16/02/2022, an international joint workshop of the #DCH-CHO-NN (Nahrein Network)
entitled, “Beyond the Point Clouds: Real-World Uses of 3D Data for Conservation and
Accessibility of Cultural Heritage" took place.
Over 236 participants from 44 different universities and government and non-government
organizations from a total of 9 countries (Iraq, United States of America, UK, Poland, Tunisia,
Spain, Egypt, Finland, and Albania). And locally in Iraq, participants attended the workshop
from 12 different cities and Towns, including (Sulaimani, Erbil, Kirkuk, Halabja, Duhok, Babylon,
Koya, Darbandikhan, Kalar, Chamchamal, Khanaqin, and Ranya).
The workshop was presented by Dr. Lyn Wilson, Head of Programme for Technical Research
and Science, Historic Environment Scotland.
*The Nahrein Network, based at the University College London (UCL), is a collaborative
international project between UCL, University of Oxford, Sulaimani Polytechnic University,
Cultural Heritage Organization, and the University of Al-Qadisiyah. Nahrein Network was
previously funded by an AHRC GCRF from 2017 to 2021. But now are continuing their mission
until 2031, funded by a generous philanthropic gift.
