An SPU Staff Writes a Chapter from an International Book
Dr. Rozhin Kamal, a lecturer at the Sulaimani Polytechnic University and director of the Digital Cultural
Heritage Research Center, was invited to write a chapter in a book by Professor Alexandria Bonya, the
head of the museum's program at the British University of UCL-Branch, following her presentation of a
seminar on her work during her invitation and visit to the British University of UCL-Branch as a senior
visitor researcher.
The book "Emerging Technology and Museums: Mediating Difficult Heritage," edited by Professor
Alexandria Bonya, who is now at the University as a postdoctoral researcher at the Museum Laboratory
of the Interactive Media Research Center at Cyprus University of Technology in Greece and D. Antigon
Heraclido Smart Systems and Emerging Technologists in Cyprus, will be released this month (January
2022) by The Bergen Foundation whose bases are in new york cities in the United States and Oxford in
the United Kingdom.
Dr. Rozhin Kamal discusses the creative role of real-life creative technology in enhancing the experience
of museums, buildings, and cultural heritage sites in this chapter. Dr. Rozhin introduces readers to the
use of innovative technologies to experience cultural heritage related to difficult events such as the
Yezidi genocide in the second part of the chapter by analyzing the design of the "Nobody's listening"
Virtual Reality exhibition.
It is worth noting that the DCH Center's director has played an influential role internationally, including
serving as co-director of a major joint research project called The Nahrein Network (a collaboration
between the Universities of USL and Oxford, the Cultural Heritage Organization, and Al-Qadisyyah
University), an honorary researcher at the British University of USL,as well as the International Rashid
Organization's new vice president in Germany, and an International Evaluator of the British Research
and Invention Foundation.
