A project of Sulaimani Polytechnic University will be presented at Oxford University Museum
Following the significant success of the CHN Cultural Heritage Network Project, the Research Center of Digital Cultural Heritage at Sulaimani Polytechnic University, in partnership with Reading and Leicester Universities of Britain, the international project of Sulaimani Polytechnic University in an exhibition of Paul Collins at the Ashmolean Museum of the Oxford University of Britain has been mentioned as one of the examples of projects funded by the University of UCL and Oxford University in the service of local cultural heritage.
The exhibition also mentioned the co-directors of the project, including Dr. Rozhen Kamal (head of the Research Center of Digital Cultural Heritage), Asst.Prof. Dr. Alan Faraydoon Ali Amin, president of Sulaimani Polytechnic University, Dr. Saad Eskandar, Prof. Dr. Roger Masios, and Prof. Dr. Russ Young.
Under the title “Ownership of the Past: From Mesopotamia to Iraq”, the exhibition discusses the current creation and border of Iraq after World War I when the United Kingdom controlled the region, and because it was amazed by Mesopotamia’s past, they began to invade the country’s archaeological and cultural heritage. The exhibition also highlights the question of what heritage is and shows the previously unheard voices and stories of people who have dedicated themselves to their country’s heritage and history.
It is worth mentioning that the exhibition opened on 12/12/2020 and will continue until 16 May 2021, and it has been supported and funded by some British institutions. For more information about the exhibition, visit the website of the Museum of Oxford University or the Twitter account of Dr. Paul Collins.
