An international workshop on “Holistic Sustainable City Planning: Opportunities for Fostering Mental and Physical Wellness” took place.
On February 1st, 2021, the second international training workshop of the joint Digital cultural heritage (DCH)-the Nahrein Network “Creative Cities” Training Program under the title “Holistic Sustainable City Planning: Opportunities for Fostering Mental and Physical Wellness” was held.
Over 173 participants from 33 different universities and government and non-government associations and organizations from a total of 5 countries (Iraq, Iran, United Kingdom, USA, and Netherland) attended the workshop, and locally participants attended from (Sulaymaniyah – Erbil – koya – Halabja – Kirkuk- and Duhok).
The two and half hour workshop was presented by Dr. Sara Alinaghi Pour, Municipal Planner at the City of Chestermere, Canada. During the webinar, Dr. Sara discussed sustainable planning for cities and what are the opportunities that can be used to improve both physical and physiological conditions of a city.
The Nahrein Network is a collaborative international project between University College London (UCL), University of Oxford, Sulaimani Polytechnic University, and the University of Al-Qadisiyah. The Network is supported by an AHRC Global Challenges Research Fund grant from the UK
