An international workshop on “When Digital Technologies Meet Cultural Heritage” took place

On October 10th, 2020, the 1st international training workshop of the joint Digital cultural heritage (DCH)-the Nahrein Network “Digital Cultural Heritage” Training Program under the title “When Digital Technologies Meet Cultural Heritage ” was held.

Over 90 participants from 12 different universities and government and non-government associations and organizations both locally and internationally attended the workshop via zoom and with a total of 190 participants via FB live.

The one-hour-long workshop was presented by Dr. Rozhen Kamal Mohammed-Amin who is the founding head of the DCH, a lecturer at the City Planning Department of SPU, co-director of the Nahrein Network, and a secretary of the RASHID International e.V.

During the workshop, Dr. Rozhen discussed the growing relationship between digital technologies and the Cultural Heritage sector. Through highlighting related creative projects, the participants were introduced to new and creative ways for protecting, managing, and promoting cultural heritage for sustainable development of the sector and creating economic opportunities.

The Nahrein Network is a collaborative international project between University College London (UCL), University of Oxford, Sulaimani Polytechnic University, and the University of Al-Qadisiyah. The Network is supported by an AHRC Global Challenges Research Fund grant from the UK government.
