Sulaimani Polytechnic University Hosts Its First Scientific Event: “Postgraduate Research Day”
On May 8, 2025, Sulaimani Polytechnic University held its first “Postgraduate Research Day” in the halls of the university’s Language Center. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Hoshyar Abdullah Aziz, President of the University, along with Vice Presidents, Deans of Colleges and Institutes, academic supervisors, and master’s and doctoral students.
On this occasion, the President’s speech was delivered on his behalf by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sarhang Sarwat Hama, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education.
Notably, this marks the first time in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq that all postgraduate students—both master’s and doctoral—presented the progress of their research studies in the form of seminars and poster sessions as part of their thesis work.
The aim of the event was to provide a platform for postgraduate students to showcase their research, receive constructive feedback from faculty and supervisors, and enhance the quality and presentation of their theses. It also sought to strengthen students’ academic communication and presentation skills.
“Postgraduate Research Day” is a scientific tradition held at many renowned universities around the world. Sulaimani Polytechnic University is proud to be the first in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq to adopt this model, with plans to make it an annual event.
At the conclusion of the event, certificates of appreciation were awarded for the best seminar and poster presentations at the college level.
