The Activities and Initiatives of the RISE Project are Ongoing
On 28 April 2025, Sulaimani Polytechnic University, within the framework of the RISE Project and under the direct supervision of Prof. Dr. Hoshyar Abdullah Aziz, President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University, held its third meeting with a group of students from the university’s colleges and institutes. This project is one of the new initiatives launched by the University’s International Relations Office (IRO), specifically aimed at enhancing the university’s level of internationalization and improving the employability of its graduates through the Career Development Center.
RISE (Reinforcing Integration of Skills for Employability and Internationalisation in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq) is designed to strengthen institutional capacity and promote internationalization across the Kurdistan region. The project is financially supported by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme and coordinated by UNIMED.
A total of nine universities are participating in the project—two from Europe: the International University of Rome (UNINT) and the University of Murcia; and seven from the Kurdistan Region: Akre University for Applied Science, Duhok Polytechnic University, Erbil Polytechnic University, Sulaimani Polytechnic University, University of Duhok, Garmian University, and University of Zakho.
The meeting agenda was designed to ensure that, in the future, more students from Sulaimani Polytechnic University will have the opportunity to participate in international programmes, thereby further advancing the university’s internationalization goals. During the meeting, organizers also proposed the preparation of a document to serve as a roadmap for the ongoing development and success of the RISE Project.
This initiative aims to reflect the needs and interests of the university’s various colleges and institutes. Previously, the university administration formally requested that each college and institute nominate representatives to take part in an assembly, ensuring balanced representation from across the university within the project.
