Technical College of Management of Sulaimani Polytechnic University is Organizing a Symposium on Combating Violence against Women
Within the framework of the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women; under the supervision and presence of Prof. Dr. Hoshyar Abdullah Aziz, President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Bakhtiar Obaid Sharif, Vice President for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hersh Rasul Murad, Dean of Technical College of Management, on 1st of December 2024, in the Piramirdi Hall of the Presidency of the Sulaimani Polytechnic University, Technical College of Management organized a symposium under the slogan (There is no excuse for violence against women).
The symposium began with a moment of silence for the souls of the victims of violence against women in particular and the martyrs in general.
Afterwards, Dr. Sozi Azad Mohammed, Quality Assurance Coordinator of Technical College of Management, delivered the opening speech of the symposium, and She presented the vision of Sulaimani Polytechnic University in order to raise awareness about women’s rights. Then Miss Lavan Talib, Director of the Panel, invited the panelists to participate in their papers. Dr. Nashmil Rasul, a psychiatrist, presented a panel entitled (Domestic Violence and Psychological Stress); Brigadier Sarkawt Omar presented a panel entitled (Women’s Participation in Community Leadership, Management and Human Development).
Dr. Dilpak Tahir, Director of Gender Equality Center of Sulaimani Polytechnic University presented a panel entitled (A peaceful family is the guarantee of a peaceful society) and Dr. Shakhawan Siamensuri, Chairman of the Religious Sermon Board of Sulaimani Province presented a panel entitled (What has Islam done for women?). The last panel entitled (Kurdish Media and Violence against Women) was presented by Dr. Tazhan Dilshad, Lecturer of Sulaimani Polytechnic University.
The symposium ended with questions and discussions among the participants and guest panelists; Afterwards, certificates of participation were awarded to the panelists by Prof. Dr. Hoshyar Abdullah Aziz, President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University and Asst. Prof. Dr. Bakhtiar Obaid Sharif, Vice President for Student Affairs.
