The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Abdulfattah Abdulrazzaq, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Erbil Governor, a number of Arab consuls, presidents of public and private universities in the Kurdistan Region. Each of Dr. Bakhtiar Obaid Sharif, Vice President for Student Affairs; Dr. Rebaz Jalil Abdullah, Director of the General Registry, represented Sulaimani Polytechnic University in the 29th Arab Universities Forum. Nowadays, universities in general and polytechnics in particular pay great attention to field training, including Sulaimani Polytechnic University, as the leader of polytechnic universities in the Kurdistan Region, which has a clear strategy in the field of summer training and student training.
In this context, our university has paid great attention to sending its students abroad, in addition to exchanging students in the field of practical training with local and international universities. The process of exchanging students in summer internships with international universities has many objectives, including cultural, social, educational, and environmental objectives, as well as learning and becoming acquainted with the customs and traditions of nations and respecting them. It is the exchange of students to participate in summer internships. In addition to learning practices, it provides the opportunity to learn new and unique lifestyles and gain important experiences and has a positive impact on the university’s international relations. It also helps in building sustainable bridges between the nations of the region, which helps to create new job opportunities in the world. In addition, the issue of student exchange has been linked to the issue of internationalization of universities. Therefore, Sulaimani Polytechnic University pays great attention to summer internships and student exchanges with international universities through specialized programs in this field. In another part of the forum, the ranking of the universities that were the best in training students in 2023 was read out and awards were presented to them. During the forum, the President of the Union of Russian and Arab Universities, Dr. Bashir Samaha, spoke about the importance of relations between Arab universities and Russian public universities, especially Moscow State University, which gave two master’s scholarships to Sulaimani Polytechnic University. Founded in 1755, Moscow State University is ranked first in Russia and among the top 100 universities in the world according to the Shanghai Ranking of World Universities. In the framework of the forum, delegations and guests from Arab countries participated in the Kurdish Folklore Festival of Erbil Polytechnic University.
