The British Council Iraq has Signed a New Agreement with Sulaimani Polytechnic
University
In the framework of coordination and joint work between the two sides and the agreements signed and follow up on the work done in the past and set the future program, as well as signing of a new agreement, a delegation of the British Council in Iraq led by Ben Lawton, Director of the Institute in Iraq and Hassan Hussein, Director of Examination Development for the Middle East and North Africa, on April 23, 2024, they visited Sulaimani Polytechnic University and the International English Language Center of our university. Professor Dr. Hoshyar Abdullah Aziz, President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University, Dr. Ali Qadir Othman, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Bakhtiar Obaid Sharif, Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Diyari Ali Mohammed, Acting Vice President for Scientific and Higher Education and Dr. Hogr Mohammed Tofiq, Director of the International English Language Center, warmly
welcomed them.
In a positive meeting, Professor Dr. Hoshyar Abdullah Aziz expressed his pleasure with the visit and both sides expressed their views on improving the level of the program and examinations.
They expressed their satisfaction with the conduct of business so far and hoped to provide the best services to those people in the future who are going to take international exams at Sulaimani Polytechnic University.
After discussions and meetings between the university and the institution, the president of Sulaimani Polytechnic University and the director of the British Council in Iraq signed a new agreement to open another type of IELTS exam called (UKVI). The President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University presented a special logo to the institution and hoped to continue their coordination and sharing with Sulaimani Polytechnic University because a significant number of students and citizens have benefited from these scientific services provided jointly between the two sides.
The delegation visited the IELTS examination hall at Sulaimani Polytechnic University where several exams have been conducted such as conducting international IELTS exams (for academic purposes, study, immigration, job opportunities abroad, skills development and higher education).
The new project, called UKVI, is another type of IELTS and is being conducted for the first time in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. This new department will be opened at the International English Language Center of Sulaimani Polytechnic University and the exams will be conducted directly on computers.
Dr. Awder, Director of International Relations and Dr. Rebaz, Director of the General Registry of the University were present.
It is worth mentioning that Sulaimani Polytechnic University has officially signed an agreement with the British Council for the development of English language since 2015 and a large number of students have benefited successfully from there.
