Organizing a Symposium on evaluating the general budget of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region

On 3 March 2018, Dukan Technical Institute / Department of Management and Accounts organized a Symposium on the budget in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region from the perspective of transparency and corruption in the presence of the president of Sulaimani Polytechnic University assist. prof  Dr. Alan Faraidoon  and Dr. Kawa Ratha, Dean of Dukan Technical  Institute and number of lecturers and students where the state budget was considered a good measure to assess state policy and economic stability and solve the problems of unemployment, administrative corruption and economic stagnation.
At the beginning of the symposium, Dr. Alan  delivered his speech in which he expressed his happiness to receive number of specialists of professors, experts and students to discuss the budget issue which is one of the most important topics related to the daily life of the people. He said during his speech that the university is not only a place to teach students and provide certificates, but a platform for political and social science and it is part of the great university that is our society.

Prof. Kawa Ratha delivered a welcoming speech and pointed out that the transparency of the budget is to preserve the dignity and prestige of the people and the nation, as well as raise the level of income of individuals and economic distress, and promote prosperity among people and the operation of capital,
He pointed out that transparency in the budget does not only mean how to obtain internal imports and ways of exchange, but also involve people in political decision-making, and that the media play a large role between the people and the government so that people can be accountable to the official and accountability to eliminate corruption.

The symposium was composed of two panels, the first panel theme presented by Dr. Ezzat Saber, Chairman of the Finance and Economic Committee in the Parliament of Kurdistan, entitled “Is the Kurdistan Regional Government sell its share of oil independently or handed over to the Iraqi government?” The other participants in the first group was  Dr.Bakr Amin  a member of Iraqi Council and his theme entitled  (The general budget of Iraq and its problems and obstacles) ,the first panel chairman was Lecturer Halkawt Ismael, head of the accounting department at the Institute, and the second panel headed by the lecturer Omar Mustafa, head of the Administration  Department of the Institute and participants in the second panel  were Dr. Yunis Ali specialist of financial and banking lecturer at the Faculty of Administration and Economics /Sulaimani University  entitled( Income and government spending between transparency and corruption)
And Mr. Faisal Ali, chairman of the Kurdistan Economic Forum who presented his theme  entitled (Managing the economy of the Kurdistan Region and the budget of the region as an example)

The participants of both panels shared their views and comments and noted that the budget carries many analyzes and views and that their results reflect the government’s policy and strategy.

The attendees then asked the members of the panels and provided their comments and suggestions for inclusion in their agenda.

At the end of the Symposium, Dr. Alan  and Dean of the Dukan  Technical Institute presented the award certificates to the panelist.
