The Order to Divide the Sulaimani Technical Institute into Three Independent Specialized Technical Institutes has been Successfully Implemented.

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Professor Dr. Hoshyar Abdullah Aziz, the President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University, issued orders for the establishment of new divisions, as follows:

  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Choman Aladdin Omar: Dean of the Sulaimani Technology Institute.
  • Prof. Dr. Jalal Abdullah Mohammed: Supervisor of the Sulaimani Administrative Technical Institute.
  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Solav Jawhar Ali: Supervisor of the Sulaimani Medical Technical Institute.

This restructuring aligns with Ministerial Decree No. 25415 (dated 12/11/2024), issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The decree calls for the division of the Sulaimani Technical Institute into three independent specialized technical institutes: Sulaimani Technology Institute, Sulaimani Administrative Technical Institute, and Sulaimani Medical Technical Institute.

To mark this transition, Professor Dr. Hoshyar Abdullah Aziz held a meeting with the newly appointed deans and supervisors of the institutes. He extended his gratitude to Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for supporting Sulaimani Polytechnic University in implementing these decisions and expanding the university’s scope. He also congratulated the new appointees and wished them success in their new roles.

Furthermore, Dr. Hoshyar expressed his hope that this organizational change will enhance the quality of higher education services. He emphasized that the university would provide full support for the successful implementation of the new responsibilities assigned to the institutes.

Lastly, the President of the University acknowledged the valuable contributions of Asst. Prof. Dr. Choman Aladdin Omar, the former Dean of the Sulaimani Technical Institute, for his successful leadership. A special committee will be formed to develop a roadmap to address the logistical, financial, and academic aspects of the restructuring process for the three newly independent technical institutes.
