Sulaimani Polytechnic University Celebrated the 124th Anniversary of Kurdish Journalism
To celebrate the 124th anniversary of Kurdish journalism, discuss, and exchange ideas on the quality of contemporary and future Kurdish journalism, Sulaimani Polytechnic University, in collaboration with CDO and Kurdistan Union of Journalists -Sulaimani branch, held a debate and ceremony.
In the presence of Prof. Alan Faraidoon Ali Amin, the president of Sulaimani Polytechnic University, Aram Bakr, Director of Media and Activities of Sulaimani Polytechnic University; Arina Musttafa, Director of Service and Community Development Centre, a number of journalists, media activists, and university lecturers, a ceremony and a debate were held on the stages of development of Kurdish journalism on Thursday 21st April 2022.
The ceremony began with a minute of silence to pay tribute to the martyrs of journalism and all those who died or were harmed to reveal the truth.
Then on behalf of the three parties to the ceremony, Karwan Anwar, President of the Sulaimani Branch of the Kurdistan Union of Journalists delivered a speech and congratulated all journalists and journalists and stated that the work of journalism in the Kurdistan Region has taken good steps. The progress of the Kurdish people’s minds and thoughts is evident, and the media has contributed in this progress and built a good deal of trust among the people.
Then a debate was held on the occasion by:
Farhad Hatem, a judge, presented a paper entitled (Journalism Law and Problems Facing Implementation).
Hawraz Ahmad presented an article entitled (Obstacles Facing Journalists).
Assist Prof. Dr. Karzan Mohammed presented a paper entitled (Crimes of Publication in the Kurdistan Region; Types and Procedures for Treatment).
Hannah Shwan presented a paper entitled (Principles of Journalistic; Ethics).
In the end, the participants had an intensive scientific discussion on the topics presented and expressed their views on the points related to the further development of Kurdish journalism in the Kurdistan Region.
