Participation of five more SPU academics in the Erasmus+ICM program with Masaryk University, Czech Republic

As part of SPU’s continued international activities, most recently, another 5 academics from our university (Mr. Faraidun Faizulla Aziz , Miss Gulala Ali Hama Amin, Mr. Aso Hama Saeed Hama Salih, Ms. Binaee Yasin Raouf, and Ms. Dlnya Raouf) from the Technical Colleges of Administration, Informatics, Health , and Engineering and the International English Language Center, participated in the EU-funded Erasmus+ ICM exchange program between the Sulaimani Polytechnic University (SPU) and Masaryk University (MU) in the Czech Republic. The program fund was jointly applied for and obtained by Ms. Violeta Osouchova from MU and DCH director and Erasmus+ ICM coordinator at SPU, Dr. Rozhen Kamal Mohammed-Amin.

During their academic visit, which lasted for one week, the SPU academics extensively participated in a number of training activities and seminars in Marketing, especially in using Social Media in a positive way for marketing to academic departments, centers, and various university activities. They also participated in a workshop on project management and writing successful grant applications. The training included other topics such as communicating with and supporting students with special needs and the use of Sign language, brainstorming for changing individual mindsets and behavior through successful scientific methods. One day of the visit was dedicated to discussing the challenges of staff and student exchange among universities and how to make that process more transparent. Another part of the training focused on protecting students during pandemics like Covid 19 and continuing the education process. The SPU team also visited a number of landmarks in Brno city and historic buildings. They will soon share their international experience and newly gained knowledge with academics and students from and outside SPU in a number of workshops.

Since 2018, (then) group and (now) DCH center at SPU has established academic collaboration with MU through the Erasmus+ICM program. Every year, through an open call, the Erasmus+ exchange opportunities are announced to all SPU faculty members, researchers, and staff. Selections are done competitively based on criteria set by the host university in the Czech Republic.
