An international workshop on “A road map for national information infrastructure: a network for libraries, museums and research centers” took place
On March 31st, 2021, the 7th international training workshop of the joint Digital cultural heritage (DCH)-the Nahrein Network “Digital Cultural Heritage” Training Program under the title “A road map for national information infrastructure: a network for libraries, museums and research centers” was held.
Over 182 participants from 39 different universities and government and non-government associations and organizations from a total of 5 countries (Iraq, Iran, Tunis, Yemen, Algeria) attended the workshop, and locally participants attended from (Sulaymaniyah – Erbil – Kirkuk – Halabja – Koya- Baghdad – Musl -and Duhok).
The Two-hour long workshop was presented by Dr. Said Muhammad Husseiny, Lecturer at Kurdistan university in Sanandaj. In the workshop he discussed the importance of digitalization and why books and libraries should be collected with explaining mechanisms and its preservations.
The Nahrein Network is a collaborative international project between University College London (UCL), University of Oxford, Sulaimani Polytechnic University, and the University of Al-Qadisiyah. The Network is supported by an AHRC Global Challenges Research Fund grant from the UK government.
