Two International Workshops on “Archaeology, Heritage and Society” Organized

To kick off a series of activities, two international workshop were presented by two UK professors at Sulaimani Polytechnic University. The presenters are co-directors of a one-year-long project funded by UCL’s Nahrain Network and the events are part of activities to be held between the Cultural Heritage Network  of the Digital Cultural Heritage research group at SPU Research Center and two UK based universities.

The first workshop was presented by the president of RASHID International and the co-investigator of the project, Prof. Roger Matthews about “Inter-disciplinary approaches to the past: how archaeology can address important issues of today”. The workshop was attended by 93 people including researchers, archaeologists, lecturers and students form and outside of SPU.

The second workshop was Presented by Dr. Ruth Young co-investigator of CHN from University of Leicester in which she dealt with “Heritage and Community Engagement”.

CHN id the first grand, UK funded, multi-partner research project in which Sulaimani Polytechnic University is the main supervisor. The project is directed by the founding head of DHC research group, Dr. Rozhen Kamal.
