Sulaimani Polytechnic University (SPU) is Opening a Course on Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances for its Teachers
For the first time and with the participation of more than (50) teachers from all colleges and institutes and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hoshyar Abdullah Aziz, President of the University and in the presence of Dr. Bakhtiar Obaid Sharif, Vice President for Student Affairs and Chairman of the High Committee to Combat Drugs and Psychotropic Substances on 12th of September 2024, in Nali Hall; Sulaimani Polytechnic University (SPU) has launched a national campaign against drugs and psychotropic substances.
Dr. Bakhtiar Obaid Sharif presented the views of the Presidency of Sulaimani Polytechnic University on the dangers and effects of drugs to distort and dissolve families, destroy of youth and waste of the country’s economy to the teachers. In this regard, it was recommended that the first lesson in the new academic season would be devoted to highlighting this danger. He also pointed out the next steps of the university to make the efforts of the campaign against drugs and psychotropic substances a success. Then in four lessons each of Dr. Ahmad Mohammed Amin Ahmad Lecturer at Sulaimani Polytechnic University / Technical College of Health and Medicine; Judge Dr. Awat Omar Qadir, President of Court of Appeal of Kirkuk District – Garmian; Colonel Ismail Osman Omar, an officer in the Directorate of Drugs; and Mr. Ayub Karim Saeed, Director of Career Development Center (CDC) at Sulaimani Polytechnic University, discussed in detail the dangers of the spread and use of drugs and their psychological effects on family social security, health, economy and education.
The course teachers also presented the applicable legal measures to combat this threat. They considered it important to raise awareness among individuals in society, especially among students.

Finally, appreciations were presented to the lecturers of the course by Dr. Bakhtiar Obaid Sharif, Vice President for Student Affairs and Chairman of the High Committee for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.
