Minister of Higher Education of Kurdistan emphasizes the importance of upgrading the level of universities and proficiency of graduate students in English language.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Kurdistan, Dr. Yousef Goran, stressed the ministry’s keenness to raise the level of universities in the Kurdistan Region in accordance with international standards, indicating the importance of proficiency in English language for candidates for postgraduate studies.

This came during the Minister’s visit to the presidency of the Sulaimani Polytechnic University, on 14 January 2018, accompanied by the President of the Sulaimani University Dr.Retha Hassan and Chairman of the Kurdistan Institute for Strategic Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Pola Khanaqa, and meeting with its President Dr.Alan Faraidoon Ali Amin, and the vice president for Administrative and Financial Affairs Dr. Dana Ahmed, and number of qualified staff of the SPU.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Kurdistan, said that the ministry is keen to upgrade the level of the Kurdish universities and to ensure its march according to international standards, and expressed his happiness with the development achieved by the SPU despite its recent era.

He stressed on the importance of the role of the International Center for English Language at the SPU who were able   to conduct the IELTS exam in cooperation with the British Council stressing the need to master the English language for candidates for postgraduate studies.
