SPU Representative Participated in the National University Ranking (NUR) Workshop for the year 2016

On 7th of March 2016, Mr.Jamal kakbra the IT Director and Director of Statistics Department, Mr.Hemin Mhyddin Karem participated in a workshop for KRG National University Ranking in the Ministry of Higher Education.

Mr. Jamal Kakbra stated the importance of the workshop lies in the implementation of a new mechanism and process which will be through a platform or special website named NUR National University Ranking, www.nur-krg.net.

He also added, from now on universities in Kurdistan can upload their data to the NUR platform which is open till the beginning of September 2016.he said as well this year university ranking in Kurdistan will be announced in number ranging between (1-28 universities), not in groups (A,B,C,D)like last year 2015,and with NUR the universities in KRG are ranked according to a particular set of criteria and assigned specific weights, the total weight is (100%).

Academic Staff (13%) – Scientific Research (40%) – International Activities (6%) – Student Satisfaction (3%) – Quality (28%) – Cultural and Community Activities (4%) – Library (6%)

It is worth to mention that the members of NUR committee, their participation were important enough to overcome the obstacles and difficulties through the platform (NUR).

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MHE) in Kurdistan region (KRG) of the F.R-Iraq started launching the National University Ranking (NUR) system, in June 2015, for all Universities of KRG.
The purpose of this National University Ranking in KRG is to inform Universities about the methodologies behind the KRG ranking, how far their visions meet the MHE vision, and show their potential impact.
