Kurdish Aacademic Warns of Misuse of Heating Devices

Using heating devices at keeping rules does not cause hazard, while neglecting those rules can lead to serious problems.

Thus and in a seminar hold in the Technical College, D.Yassin Mustafa Ahmed vice Dean of the Technical College, warned people from the misuse of heating devices, despite their importance to face the winter cold, he called on them to take into account the safety and security of their own safety and their families, thus he recommended people to pick good types of heating devices whether electric or oil or gas -based or traditional coal or wood.” and keeping them away from reach of children.

Dr.Yassin added, the most dangerous device is gas heaters, they are highly flammable and people must be careful in using it ,they do not be put in the rooms or indoor and make sure that gas valve is not leaking , he added, the other device that most people of our region prefer is the oil heaters which is dangerous as well if people neglect safety rules in using it, stressing on using them in unclosed areas to reduce pollution and toxic gases or cooking uses, , and not to be left in flames in those places without good ventilation to avoid poisoning of carbon monoxide that killed many people .

In his point of view, oily heaters is ” the safest heating device , despite the large consumption of electricity yet he stressed on certain things in using it, appropriate electrical source, good quality of wires and plugs, besides not to be placed near curtains or other furniture for the possibility of burning ”

Dr.Ahmed added that many people are still crave to use coal or wood for heating for various reasons , one of which the beautiful and loving smell of it, yet he emphasized on the methods of using it, it should not ignite indoors and closed places , so as not to saturate the place with gas carbon monoxide danger , moreover they should be placed away from stoves Furniture and avoid throwing their waste in plastic waste containers before fully amortized.

The lecture also contained the safe use of boilers and the certainty of streamlined access to water reservoirs and to be cleaned periodically and adjust the temperature.

Once again ,he added, keep children away from all kinds of heating devices and put them in safe and far away from their reach , in order to ensure their safety and their families ” , stressing that ” safety is everyone’s responsibility and we should be committed to it.

It is worth to mention that D.Nasih Qaradaghi, published an article on January 2015, in BURNS magazine issued by World association of burns, mentioning that the burn rate experienced by children in Sulaymani annually estimated to 1044 of every hundred thousand children below school age , this proportion considered to be high ” compared to neighboring countries and those of developed , despite being comparable to their counterparts in developing countries in general.
