The student representative at Sulaimani Polytechnic University is a professional organization that defends students’ rights on multiple levels and conveys students’ demands to academic departments, colleges, and the university’s administrative units. Furthermore, this representative union plays a major role in organizing, supervising, and conducting students’ activities and events at the college and university levels. The student union has a close relationship with the Vice President of Students Affairs to obtain support and funds for their activities.

Therefore, the representative member can participate in all academic department, college, and university council meetings. This allows a convenient and effective way to convey the concerns and recommendations to the administrative units for better decisions. All intra-curricular and extracurricular activities, such as summer training, vocational training, and internship training, are organized and conducted through the student union.
