Sulaimani Polytechnic University became one of the active members of the Association of Arab Universities

On 4th of Dec 2016, at Zaituna University in Amman,representatives of more than 100 Arab universities and 13 Kurdistan Universities including SPU participated in another new conference of the union which lasted for one day.

President of the SPU,, assist prof,Dr. Alan Feridun Ali Amin, said that the conference was held in order to “strengthen the role of universities and striving to improve the output of higher education and scientific research, and promote mutual cooperation between universities to conduct joint research and standardization of the contents of the transfer of knowledge and technology and the exchange of students and faculty.”

Dr. Alan added, this extraordinary conference was so important because they have issued new recommendations and decisions for the new members who joined the university unity, moreover other 11 kurdistan universities have joined the union, they were public and private universities.

He also added we will be one of the permanent member of the union and will be able to participate in taking decisions in all the activities of the union ,ad will send a formal letter as soon as we arrive at Kurdistan to invite the union to hold one of its conference in Kurdistan,and on this regard we have communicated with general secretary of the unity,Dr.Salgan Urabi al Edwan ,and he showed his interest to organize it in Suly.

Besides,Dr.Alan met with the president of Zaituna University and agreed to sign an MOU with the university in the near future.

It is worth mentioning that the university union is including all the Arab countries universities, aiming to promote scientific relations among the universities, has its own criteria in accepting any university in the union ,and the head of the unity has visited SPU before in the previous time and witnessed the scientific and academic level of the university in all different fields of studying ,thus he decided to accept the membership of the SPU an a permanent membership of the union.
