A Brief about the department:

The Department of Surveying was established in 1992, and the aim of opening this department at the Sulaymaniyah Technical Institute is to prepare a Specialized  staff in the field of the survey of engineering projects and be an assistant to the civil engineer in these projects. Graduates of this department have an important role to play in the survey of engineering projects such as construction, agriculture, roads, etc., land boundaries and land surveying, as well as expertise in aerial surveying.

Historical summery about the department:

The Department was established for the first time in the academic year (1991-1992) in the name of the Survey Department. In the academic year (1992-1993), the number of graduates was 55.

Aims of the department:

The purpose of establishing this department was to create the Specialized  staff  in the field of(surveying) so that he has the ability to work in engineering projects in government departments and non-governmental companies, such as construction projects, roads, agriculture, electricity … etc.

Importance of the department in the market:

The graduates of this department have an important role in the implementation of engineering projects in a scientific and modern way.

Importance of the department in society:

The lack of specialized staff in the field of surveying in engineering projects leads to the creation of errors during the implementation of these projects, and the inability to implement them accurately.

The graduate of this department has the ability to work in the field of surveying in various engineering projects using modern equipment such as (Total station, theodolite).

He is an assistant to the Civil Engineer. He also has experience in calculating the quantities of construction materials in engineering projects.
