Sulaimani Polytechnic University Achieves Outstanding Success in SCImago 2026 Institution Rankings (Overall and by Subject) in Iraq
Sulaimani Polytechnic University (SPU) has achieved remarkable success in the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2026, reflecting the university’s growing scientific capacity both nationally and internationally.
In the latest SCImago rankings, SPU has gained a landmark position as 1st among public universities in the Kurdistan Region, 2nd in the Kurdistan Region across both public and private universities, and 12th among 76 Iraqi universities listed. This impressive performance underscores the university’s rapid development in research, innovation, and academic impact within Iraq.
The overall university ranking is determined based on three key criteria:

- Innovation (30%)
- Social Impact (20%)
