Visions

Medical Laboratory department at the Sulaimani Polytechnic University has been established as part of the Technical College of Health in 2014, this to be the fourth department in the college with the Community Health department, Medical Laboratory, Nursing and Anesthesia. At the beginning, the academic year 2014-2015 there was only 43 students with 6 Teachers, but now for this academic year (2018-2019), the number of student reach about 300 students with  about 29 academic staff within the department and several teachers from outside of the department. Currently this department has overall (29) academic staff of them (5) assistant professor, (8) PhD degree holders, (8) MSc degree and (4) BSc with (4) diploma and (300) students with expecting to increase in future.

Objects

The object is to prepare experienced technical academics in the medical laboratory analysis with bachelor degree, they were able in identification of disease and to develop public clinical hospitals or private clinics and develop labor market.

Graduates and Job description

Graduates at this department after four years of fulltime study with an extra of two months of experienced training at the corresponding hospitals around the region, they will receive technical bachelor degree in the field of medical laboratory. Graduates of this department can work as a Medical Laboratory Technician in the health centers around the region.

Department Council

This department managed their scientific and legal issues via a scientific council headed by (Dr. Mariwan Abdulla Hama Salih), as he is a head of department also and the decision maker (M. Muhamed Saed Qadir) as he is a department decision maker as well.
