A Brief about the department

Communication Engineering Department is one of the four departments of the Technical College of Engineering at Sulaimani Polytechnic University.  It is located in the city of Sulaymaniyah, Chwarchra District in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Study in this college is four years.

Historical summary about the department

Department of Communication Engineering was founded for the academic year (2005-2006). First, was located at Sulaimani Technical Institute. In the academic year  (2007-2008), and after building the  Sulaimani technical colleges campus, it moved to a new campus. The first graduated B.Sc. class was in (2008-2009). The number of students was (15). Postgraduate study leading to (MSc.) degree in the field of Communication  Engineering begins in the department since the academic year  ( 2014 – 2015 ) and three students obtained their degrees in this field.

Aims of the department

The department is aimed to provide students high-quality instructions based on the recent challenges in communication engineering education and be able to work with the newest communication engineering technology in surrounding companies.

Most of the graduated students have worked in the mobile, internet and IT companies.

Which title can be given to the graduates of this department?

After graduation, students will receive a B.Sc certificate and an engineer title. Also, they can be a member of the Kurdistan Engineers Union.

What are the pre-requisites of the students that enable success in this department?

In addition to interesting in the field, those who have a good background in Mathematics, Physics, and the English language, can understand lectures better.
