Academic Departments
This department belongs to Halabja Technical College of Applied Sciences affiliated to the Sulaimani Polytechnic University, it was established in the year 2020-2021. The first year 26 students were accepted, and currently there are students for the second and third stages. The subjects are taught theoretical and practical on the Bologna system and consist of eight semesters, with 30 credits per semester and total 240 credits required for a bachelor’s degree. This system differs from the annual system, in which the Bologna system has many student activities, including weekly quizzes, individual reports, group reports, homework, laboratory reports, daily activities, attendance, theoretical and practical exams, and seminars.
Department of Food Science and Quality Control is one of the three scientific departments belonging to Halabja Technical College of Applied Sciences / Sulaimani Polytechnic University.
The Medical Laboratory Science Department was established in 2019 in Halabja Technical College, Sulaimani Polytechnic University. The study in this department is based on the Bologna process. It is the first medical department in our college. The first graduation class was in the 2022-2023 academic year and till now we had two graduation alumni. The staff of this department consists of one professor, two PhD holders, and five Master’s degrees. The laboratories of this department include (Molecular Biology, Hematology, Human Physiology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology).
Programs
The duration of undergraduate study is four years (8 semesters) in all the departments of the Halabja Technical College. The courses (Modules) will be specified by the departments during each semester (Fall Semester and Spring Semester). Usually, the Fall semester starts in September and the spring semester starts in January.
Postgraduate education involves learning and studying for degrees or other qualifications for which a first or Bachelor’s degree generally is required, and is normally considered to be part of tertiary or higher education. Master’s degrees consist of both taught and research elements. PhD also consist of both taught and research elements and take three or more years.
