Sulaimani Polytechnic University continuously strives to enhance its academic stature and expand its international presence. In pursuit of this objective, the university remains dedicated to fostering an environment of high-impact research, driven by scholars committed to producing globally recognized academic work.
Marking another significant accomplishment for our institution, two of our esteemed faculty members—Prof. Dr. Sarhang Sarwat Hama and Dr. Hiwa Mohsin Ahmed—have been officially listed in the Stanford University Global Ranking of the World’s Top 2% Scientists for 2026.
Each year, Stanford University—a leading American university founded in 1885—in partnership with Elsevier, the publisher and proprietor of the Scopus database, evaluates the world’s most influential researchers. Drawing upon data from Scopus, one of the most prominent global databases indexing top-tier peer-reviewed journals and tracking citation metrics, the study classifies researchers across 22 primary scientific fields and 174 subfields. Scholars are evaluated through a standardized composite score (c-score) based on the following metrics:
– Total citation count
– Hirsch index (h-index)
– Co-authorship adjusted Schreiber index (hm-index)
– Citations to single-authored papers
– Citations to papers as first author
– Citations to papers as last author
Sulaimani Polytechnic University takes great pride in the inclusion of both faculty members in this year’s global top 2% ranking and wishes them continued success in their scientific and academic endeavors.
