Directorate of Media and Activities

The Media and Activities Directorate is one of the administrative directorates operating under the Presidency of Sulaimani Polytechnic University. Organizationally, the Directorate reports directly to the President of the University.
The Directorate was originally established with the founding of the Sulaimani Technical Institute. Following the establishment of Sulaimani Polytechnic University, it continued its responsibilities under the direct supervision of the University President. In 2017, the Cultural Center was incorporated into the Directorate’s organizational structure to coordinate and promote the University’s cultural activities and community engagement, with dedicated staff assigned to support its operations.

Mission

The Media and Activities Directorate is responsible for planning, coordinating, and promoting the University’s media, communication, and public engagement activities. It oversees media-related affairs across all colleges, institutes, directorates, and centers of SPU, while serving as the University’s official representative in media communications and public relations with external organizations and the wider community.

Responsibilities

The Directorate is responsible for:

• Publishing university news, announcements, and events through written news articles, reports, photographs, and video coverage.
• Promoting the academic, scientific, cultural, and extracurricular activities of all colleges, institutes, directorates, and centers affiliated with the University.
• Disseminating information related to training programs, capacity-building courses, university services, student achievements, and announcements issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
• Managing and supervising the University’s official digital communication platforms, including the University website and official social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn.
• Organizing and coordinating official university ceremonies, events, and institutional activities.
• Publicizing the academic and research achievements of faculty members and students.
• Supervising media coverage and promotional activities for university conferences, workshops, seminars, exhibitions, and festivals.
• Covering national, cultural, and commemorative events in which the University participates.
• Organizing professional development and media training programs for communication staff working in the colleges and institutes affiliated with SPU.
