Sulaimani Polytechnic University Holds Course on Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances for Faculty Members for the First Time with Participation of More Than 50 Faculty Members from All Colleges and Institutes
Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hoshyar Abdullah Aziz, University President, and in the presence of Dr. Bakhtiar Obaid Sharif, Assistant to the University President for Student Affairs and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, on September 12, 2024, at Nali Hall, Sulaimani Polytechnic University’s National Campaign for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances was held.
Dr. Bakhtiar Obaid Sharif, at the beginning of the course, presented to the faculty members the vision of the Presidency of Sulaimani Polytechnic University regarding the dangers and effects of narcotics in distorting and disintegrating families, weakening the capacity of youth, and wasting the country’s economy. In this regard, he instructed that in the new study season, the first lesson be dedicated to presenting this danger. He also pointed to the university’s future steps to intensify efforts in the campaign against narcotics and psychotropic substances.
Then, in four lectures, each of Dr. Ahmad Mohammed Amin Ahmad, faculty member at Sulaimani Polytechnic University / Technical College of Health and Medicine; Judge Dr. Awat Omar Qader – Head of the Kirkuk-Garmian District Appeal Court; Colonel Ismail Osman Omar, officer at the Narcotics Prevention DiPresidentate; and Mr. Ayub Karim Said – DiPresident of the Career Development Center (CDC) at Sulaimani Polytechnic University, discussed in detail from several perspectives the danger of the spread and use of narcotics and psychotropic substances on family social security, health, economy, and education. The course instructors also presented legal methods, programs, and applicable mechanisms for confronting this danger, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness among members of society, especially among students.
Later, after presenting the lectures, Sulaimani Polytechnic University’s appreciation and respect was given by Dr. Bakhtiar Obaid Sharif, Assistant to the University President for Student Affairs and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, to the lecture presenters.
