Academic Departments
Garden design department is the only department of Kurdistan region and Iraq, which consists of two main sciences. The first science is botany, which is the science and art that studies developing majority of plant, considering way of the reaction with nature and surroundings (earth, water, air). The second science includes art designing, processing and planning, shape of public area, parks, private garden, school gardens, closed gardens to be suitable with city and rural environments.
Food Science is a multi-disciplinary field involving chemistry, biochemistry, nutrition, microbiology and engineering to give the scientific knowledge to solve real problems associated with the many facets of the food system. Food industry is any food that has been modified to make it a better product and Quality Control is a procedure or set of procedures intended to ensure that a manufactured product meets the requirements of the client or customer. This program has been designed to provide students with knowledge and understanding of key steps in the development of Food sciences and the launch of new ingredients and products to contribute to healthy living and lifestyles. It is based upon the strengths and expertise of staff working in the Department of Food Science and Quality Control, e.g. human nutrition, food chemistry, food microbiology, food trading and marketing, food packaging, food safety, and quality control.
The Department of Electronic Administration was established as a basic step to start a very important process in the Kurdistan Region, which is to transform the administrative process into an electronic system. That could be implemented through total reliance on the latest technologies and the use of the internet, computers and other similar means in providing services to citizens in government institutions, whether service or educational on the one hand, and the private sector on the other.
This Department was established in the 2005-2006. The department of protected agriculture is the only department in the overall Kurdistan region/ Iraq that give technical diploma certificate to graduates. In this department, students will receive advanced technologies about the production of agricultural products such as, vegetables and different types of fruits grown under plastic houses in order to improve and increase the production of ornamental plants in advanced ways by vertical induction.
