Dr. Bakhtiar Obaid Sharif, Vice President for Student Affairs, representing the President of Sulaimani Polytechnic University<\/a>, with a delegation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and representatives of Erbil<\/a> and Duhok Polytechnic Universities<\/a>, in Baghdad on May 15 and 16, has participated in the meeting on the future of technical and vocational education in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Vice President for Student Affairs participated in the meeting with Dr. Mohammed Hussein, Director General of the Supervision and Quality Assurance, Dr. Yasin Saleh, Director General of the Office of Envoys and Cultural Relations and representatives of Erbil and Duhok Polytechnic Universities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by Dr. Naeem Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraq and representatives of all Iraqi technical universities with the support of the European Union and UNESCO. The meeting lasted two days and the recommendations for the future of technical and vocational education in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region have been discussed. <\/span><\/p>\n

The vice President of SPU said that \u201cA wide range of academics and representatives of Iraqi and Kurdistan Polytechnic Universities were present, and speeches by the Ministry of Education, the Executive Director of the High Committee for Educational Development in the Office of the Prime Minister, the representatives of the Kurdistan Region, the European Union and UNESCO in Iraq were delivered\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same conference, several meetings and interviews were held focusing on the sustainable development objectives in technical and vocational education training, as well as training strategies that UNESCO offers to Iraq to develop key strategic approaches to education. Moreover, they concentrated on the transformation of education and training in Iraq and the accessibility of universities to the labor market.<\/span><\/p>\n
