This policy aims to:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>


1. Ensure that everyone is aware of their rights and obligations; safeguard all employees, visitors, and workers in university premises from the negative effects of secondhand tobacco smoke; and make that the university complies with applicable laws.
2. This policy recognizes that second-hand smoke adversely affects the health of all employees and is therefore concerned about where people smoke and the effect this has on other employees and members of the public.<\/p>

This policy has been created to ensure that the University complies with current legislation of The Kurdistan parliament which banned smoking in public places in 2007.<\/p>

Scope<\/span><\/h3>


The goal of this policy is to ensure that every employee has the freedom to operate in an environment free from smoke from all kinds of smoked and burned goods. There are no exceptions to the rule that smoking is not permitted in any enclosed or substantially enclosed university workplace or transportation. It is requested that smokers abstain from smoking near open windows, air handling units and building entrances and exits. All employees, students, consultants, contractors, and guests are subject to this policy. Employees and those who work at locations where smoking is prohibited or who follow local site-specific policies will remain covered under this. All buildings and outdoor areas designated as part of the campus are subject to the university trust’s smoke-free policy. The ban will not apply to staff members who are the sole occupants of a university residential residence connected to their employment. The tenancy agreement applies to employees who rent through the University Accommodation Service.<\/p>

Statements of Policy<\/span><\/h3>


Cigarettes, tobacco products, and non-tobacco cigarette products are all covered by the smoke-free policy. Vapour pipes and e-cigarettes are also covered by this policy.
Areas for Smoking while smoking is not allowed inside university buildings and is discouraged near entrances and exits, it is allowed on university property. When smoking is allowed on university-owned property, there will be containers for disposing of used smoking materials, which must be utilised constantly. Only unenclosed designated locations are allowed for smoking by staff, students, and guests.<\/p>

Pauses for Smoking<\/span><\/h3>


According to municipal regulations, employees who want to smoke during the workday may do so at regular breaks.<\/p>


Visitors and Students<\/span><\/h3>


Employees are required to communicate this policy to students, contractors, deliverers, and temporary employees. They are not, however, supposed to engage in any conflict that could endanger their personal safety.<\/p>
