The main GHGs in the Earth\u2019s atmosphere are water vapor, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O) and ozone. The term &#8220;carbon footprint&#8221; refers to the possible climatic impact (Global Warming) of greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted either directly or indirectly as a result of an organization&#8217;s activity. Scope 1 emissions are direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that originate from sources that an organization owns or controls. These emissions include those produced when fuel is burned in furnaces, boilers, and automobiles.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"eael-accordion-list\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"scope-2-ghg-emissions\" class=\"elementor-tab-title eael-accordion-header\" tabindex=\"0\" data-tab=\"2\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-2622\"><span class=\"eael-advanced-accordion-icon-closed\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fa-accordion-icon fas fa-plus\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"eael-advanced-accordion-icon-opened\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fa-accordion-icon fas fa-minus\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"eael-accordion-tab-title\">Scope 2 GHG Emissions<\/span><i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fa-toggle fas fa-angle-right\"><\/i><\/div><div id=\"elementor-tab-content-2622\" class=\"eael-accordion-content clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" aria-labelledby=\"scope-2-ghg-emissions\"><p style=\"text-align: justify\">Scope 2 emissions are the indirect greenhouse gas emissions that result from the purchase of heat, steam, electricity, or air conditioning. Scope 2 emissions are those that come from the source of the energy that a company purchases and uses and are caused indirectly by the company. For example, this would include the emissions generated when the electricity used in our facilities is produced. Since scope 2 emissions are a consequence of an organization&#8217;s energy consumption, they are included in the company&#8217;s greenhouse gas inventory even if they are produced physically at the site. The highest category of GHG emissions is scope 2. These are the emissions brought on by the electricity use of the university. As of yet, no total emissions have been noted.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"eael-accordion-list\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"scope-3-ghg-emissions\" class=\"elementor-tab-title eael-accordion-header\" tabindex=\"0\" data-tab=\"3\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-2623\"><span class=\"eael-advanced-accordion-icon-closed\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fa-accordion-icon fas fa-plus\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"eael-advanced-accordion-icon-opened\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fa-accordion-icon fas fa-minus\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"eael-accordion-tab-title\">Scope 3 GHG Emissions<\/span><i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fa-toggle fas fa-angle-right\"><\/i><\/div><div id=\"elementor-tab-content-2623\" class=\"eael-accordion-content clearfix\" data-tab=\"3\" aria-labelledby=\"scope-3-ghg-emissions\"><p style=\"text-align: justify\">Scope 3 encompasses emissions that originate from entities that are not directly under the company&#8217;s control or ownership, but rather from those for which it bears indirect responsibility across its value chain. When we purchase, utilize, and discard things from providers, here is an illustration of this. Any source that is outside the bounds of scopes 1 and 2 is included in scope 3 emissions. Scope 3 emissions are those from assets that the reporting organization does not own or control but that nevertheless indirectly affect the organization&#8217;s value chain. Scope 3 emissions include all sources of emissions that exceed an organization&#8217;s scope 1 and scope 2 regulations. No emission from Scope 3 has been detected.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-638552c elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"638552c\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-86d8ca0\" data-id=\"86d8ca0\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-14ef98a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"14ef98a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Baseline year<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The baseline year for the data collection is 2023-2024<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Campus Renewable Energy<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Renewable energy is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/unece.org\/DAM\/energy\/se\/pdfs\/comm25\/ECE_ENERGY_2016_4.pdf\">energy derived from natural sources\u00a0<\/a>that are replenished at a higher rate than they are consumed. Sunlight and wind, for example, are such sources that are constantly being replenished. Renewable energy sources are plentiful and all around us. Fossil fuels &#8211; coal, oil and gas &#8211; on the other hand, are non-renewable resources that take hundreds of millions of years to form. Fossil fuels, when burned to produce energy, cause harmful greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon dioxide.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The university\u2019s mission is to carry out basic and applied energy research that improves the development of sustainable energy solutions. The percentage of people using renewable energy sources instead of fossil fuels has increased dramatically in the last several years. Furthermore, while generating electricity, these sources release little to no pollution into the atmosphere. These sources have been crucial in resolving numerous energy-related problems, including the problem of supplying water and electricity to the entire campus, even though they still cannot fully meet the world&#8217;s energy needs done by fossil fuels.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Total Campus Building Footprint<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Building footprint means\u00a0the horizontal area as seen in plan, measured from outside of all exterior walls and supporting columns.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0The total campus building footprint is\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (\u00a0 16556 ) square meters.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Sulaimani Polytechnic University has destined to reach net-zero by year 2050.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Students, staff, and everyone else associated with the university are working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We are working hard to make sure that by doing this, other educational establishments will be motivated to implement similar disclosure programmes and offer innovative and reasonably priced carbon reduction plans for the education industry.
