Information Technology is one of the Informatics College departments at Sulaimani Polytechnic University, and studying in this department takes 4 years.
Historical summary about the department:
The year (2013 – 2014) was the first year of accepting student applications in the department; they got accepted in the second stage directly based on the polytechnic rules since they were graduates of institutes. It established with the name of Information Technology and had the first class of graduates in (2015 – 2016), and they were (14) students.
Aims of the department:
The principle of opening this department is preparing a class of students who are talented and have the ability to study technology and programming.
Importance of the department in the market:
Since everyday technology goes forward, now world in general, and our society specifically needs more expertise in those fields, that’s why the ones who have a background in Information Technology and programming are becoming more desired.

Because of the necessity of technology in society nowadays, Information Technology expertise has its own role in the field of work and businesses.
