Industrial food is any food that has been modified to make it a better product and Quality Control is a procedure or set of procedures intended to ensure that a manufactured product meets the requirements of the client or customer. This program has been designed to provide students with knowledge and understanding of key steps in the development of industrial foods and the launch of new ingredients and products to contribute to healthy living and lifestyles. It is based upon the strengths and expertise of staff working in the department of Industrial Food and Quality Control, e.g. human nutrition, food chemistry, food microbiology, food trading and marketing, food packaging, food safety, and quality control.
This department was established in 2018. From the day it established until now it has the same title. For the academic year of 2018-2019, the department accepted 93 students. In the 2019-2019 study year, the first graduation degree will be given to students of this department.
This department was established to produce qualified Food industries, teaching, and research organization. To establish links between Teaching/ research institutions, government, and consumers. To provide consultancy and advisory services to food industries. To provide diagnostic analysis of food products and creating awareness about the importance of safe processed nutritious food. To provide training for the staff of the department and by joining conferences, workshops, and seminars and to widen research areas. To acknowledge the region’s traders about the products that they import into the region and controlling the qualities of their products and to assure the consumer in using the imported products.
Graduated students of industrial food and quality control departments will have a great role in the Kurdistan region’s market by producing natural local products without using any protective substance. Due to the importance of this department, the agricultural products will be distributed in the markets in order to use them for the production of healthy foods. Graduated students of this department can have their own independent business due to their qualification that they achieved in their study years.
This department is the only department overall Kurdistan regions to produce well-educated Diploma graduates in industrial Food and quality control who will be able to successfully serve food-related industrial and public sectors of the food quality control. Graduated students from this department will be able to improve the quality of food products that are imported to our region or to national regions as well as from the skills that they achieve during their courses of study students will have the ability to distribute knowledge on the safety of products to the production sectors and markets and also preventing expire stocks to enter the region or country.
The Diploma holders of this department may work as Human nutrition consultant, Food Chemist, Food Analyst, food Production Manager, Quality Control Manager, Quality Assurance Officer, Food Researcher in the areas of Industrial food, ministries of Health, Education, food & agriculture, and Science & Technology, academic and research organizations, etc.
The graduated students of this department will be known as Human nutrition consultant, Food Chemist, Food Analyst, food Production Manager, Quality Control Manager, Quality Assurance Officer
Students of 12 science grades will be accepted in this department and if they have sufficient skills in each of biology, chemistry and English will be successfully graduated from this department.
