“Quality Assurance in Higher Education” workshop was delivered

On Tuesday, May 28th, the Cultural Heritage Network (CHN) project from the Digital Cultural Heritage (DCH) Research Group at the Research Center of Sulaimani Polytechnic University (SPU) organized a workshop on “Quality Assurance in Higher Education” for Lecturer Awder Ahmed

During the workshop, he first explained quality assurance according to the local and international criteria and he also touched up on the types and the criteria of the quality assurance, which focus on the student-centered learning and teaching in higher education institutions.

In the workshop, the presenter also talked about the barriers and challenges facing quality assurance process in Kurdistan’s universities and institutes, including taking students feedback in a later time of the academic year, lack of objectivity in the scientific committee decision making processes, taking merely one criterion over others in quality assurance process.

It is worth to mention that workshop was held at the Ground floor of International English Language Center building, Sulaimani Polytechnic University in which 58 people participated from lecturers and heads of quality assurance units at universities and institutes and it generated very productive discussions and exchanging ideas among participants both during the workshop and the Coffee Break as well. Finally, the participants filled in a form and asked their questions and gave opinions to make the quality assurance process richer and more effective in higher education. The workshop was extended from 10:00 to 1:00 pm.
